Cruel, Sad, but somehow true…

  1. If only that were true. They would have been better off. The U.S. tortured Haiti for most of the twentieth century. They invaded in 1913, the early 50’s and again under Reagan, using military and economic means to destroy most of the island’s culture and wealth. A trillion dollars in aid would not be enough to assuage all the grotesque atrocities inflicted on these people by America. And crack a book.

  2. We also kidnapped their democratically elected president. But actually Columbus was the first one to devastate this country. It actually kicked off the first Slave trade, and yet we celebrate him.
All this was documented by a Puerto Rican scholar. And now we are there with guns. Very scary. American Empire at work again. No doubt there are corporations close behind who will employ people in some sweat shop or other. It’s the American Way actually.

  3. I don’t think there’s anything inevitable about this. It can be fought, and crisis capitalism has been pushed back in many areas of the world.
